Make Music Gloucestershire

What is Make Music Gloucestershire?

Make Music Gloucestershire is the county's music education hub. They bring together organisations and individuals across the county, including schools, who want to help more young people learn and make music in Gloucestershire. The Hub is led by the County Council, working alongside a small commissioning team, advisory group, and network of partners.

Aims

Our ultimate aim is to make sure music education reaches as many children and young people as possible, and helps them not just to make music, but also develop their personal, social and educational skills.

The Hub is funded largely through a grant from the Department for Education (DfE) administered through Arts Council England (ACE).

Vision

“We want all children and young people in Gloucestershire to take part in music making activities that excite and challenge them, raise their aspirations and give them the opportunity to develop their talents as well as to develop as people.

We will do this by providing, coordinating and signposting musical opportunities across the county, by developing and sharing good practice, and by advocating the value of music to pupils, parents, schools and other stakeholders. Together, we will make sure that all children and young people in Gloucestershire have the opportunity – within and outside schools – to play a musical instrument and sing, create and perform their own original music, experience music in a wide variety of styles and genres, and find progression routes that are right for them."
