Play Gloucestershire

About

Play Gloucestershire is a registered charity that delivers active and creative outdoor play in urban and rural communities, whatever the weather, all year round. Activities are both school and community based, and our Play Rangers provide adventure, friendship and fun for hundreds of school aged children each year.

“Play Rangers can turn a bad day into a good day”
  Lolly aged 14

Our Play Rangers are trained play workers who take their skills and equipment to where children play, both in schools and in community spaces. Their job is to make play happen, and they co-create play alongside children.

Play Nurture Plus offers up a unique opportunity to learn about the key principles behind our award winning Play Nurture school intervention, working together to create a network of school Play Champions.

A Play Champion will be someone that is passionate about play and who recognises the positives play can provide, not only for the students involved in the project, but for the whole school.

Our Play Ranger Team and new Play Champions will begin Play Nurture Plus sessions in school together and co-create play with pupils referred to the project.

Children will benefit from the physical, social and emotional benefits of child led outdoor play. School Play Champions will build their knowledge and skills in outdoor play.

A play-based nurture programme in partnership with NHS Gloucestershire,Gloucestershire Healthy Living and Learning and Active Gloucestershire for children using the therapeutic power of outdoor play

Our Play Nurture work provides vulnerable children with the time and space to take part in child-led outdoor play and benefit from its restorative and healing qualities.

“Play Nurture has helped children find healthy ways to cope with the stresses and strains of life. Their emotional wellbeing has visibly improved, as has their engagement in learning”
