YG supports 11-25 year olds who are facing difficult times such as a disruptive home life, caring for a family member or coping with a mental health issue. YG offers help and practical ways to find confidence and develop the skills they need to get on track and to move into a job, education or training.

YG works with schools and community groups to achieve the best for young people. Their Community Involvement webpage details the support and opportunities that they are able to provide.

The charity has a webpage dedicated to fundraising ideas and resources for those who wish to support them in raising crucial funds for their services.

How to make a referral

Our referral form is now available to complete online. This is the fastest way to get information to us. The link below will take you to the online form which is hosted on our database’s website; Upshot. There is guidance on the form to help you along the way but if you need any more support please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We hold meetings each week to review the forms and assess which projects will most suit your needs. You will then be assigned to a member of staff who will contact you to discuss the projects and any waiting lists, including how long they are and what support is available to you whilst on the waiting list.

Have a look at the commonly asked questions for help to complete the form. If you have any more questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Here are our common referral questions…

Can I have the form in a different format?

Yes we would be happy to supply a hard copy of the form. Please use the contact us section at the bottom of this page to request this.

Who can complete the referral form?

The form can be completed by the young person themselves, or by a parent or guardian or by another agency who is currently working with the young person.

There are questions on the form that aren’t relevant to me?

The form can be used to gain access to services from both Young Gloucestershire and our sister charity, Infobuzz.
Therefore there may be some questions on there that aren’t relevant to your situation. Please just complete as much as you can and if we need more information we will come back to you.

How long are your waiting lists?

Waiting lists can fluctuate throughout the year. Once we have assigned you to a project you will be able to speak to our staff about how long you may have to wait and other opportunities for support in the mean time. For more information about how we manage our waiting list visit the policies section of the website under ‘About Us.’

Can I choose what project I want to go on?

You are welcome to give your preferences of project on the form. Once we have assessed your suitability we will be able to discuss with you what your options are.

Why do you need to know about my ethnicity and criminal convictions etc?

Having all this information helps us to understand what the best project will be for you and to make sure we can support you.
Our funders also sometimes require information about the groups of people we are working with. Please refer to our Data Protection policy for more information about how we use your information.
