New provider for Healthy Lifestyles Gloucestershire

Gloucestershire County Council has awarded the contract to deliver the healthy lifestyles service for adults to a new provider, ABL Health Ltd, from 1 April 2024.

ABL is an experienced, community-based, behaviour change specialist organisation. The new £1.13 million per annum contract will run for an initial 5 years, with the option to extend it for up to a further 4 years.

ABL will offer support to help people make a lifestyle change, i.e. stop smoking, increasing their physical activity levels, reducing alcohol, or managing their weight.

Since the healthy lifestyles service was first put in place in 2017, there has been an increase in weight management support available in the county including the NHS Digital Weight Management offer. Therefore, the service no longer offers referrals to Slimming World and instead will focus on bespoke, targeted help for those people who face the greatest challenges in managing their weight.

From 1 April, referrals to Healthy Lifestyles Gloucestershire will need to be made using the details below:

Referrals forms will be available on the website. Please note, there may be some initial disruption in website accessibility due to the changeover.

Referrals can still be made using the current phone number until 31 March 2024:

The healthy lifestyles service for adults is provided in addition to a £3.6 million healthier lifestyles service for children and families run by BeeZee Bodies: https://beezeebodies.com/for-families/
